Sahara Top/Dress - Bella Sunshine Design PDF Pattern

I love to sew......... Honestly, getting on with the blogging is the chore! But I do want you to see what I've been up to! So without further ado, here is Bella Sunshine's latest pattern - the Sahara Top or dress.

Sahara is a PDF pattern that comes with sizes 6months to 12 girls included.

This is a sweet top or dress, to be sewn in knit fabrics - please don't freak out when I say knit.....yes...it is a little trickier than woven cotton.....but the pattern comes with plenty of useful tips and illustrations. I would recommend this sew for confident beginners.

Sahara features a stunning scooped back & gently scooped front. No closures as it is to be made from wonderful stretchy knit!

In both top and dress version, the skirt is a full circle - so has wonderful twirl factor!

There is four sleeve options - sleeveless, short sleeve (as I've sewn), 3/4 length and full length.

This was my first version, and my favourite! I found a fun cactus print and figured some pom pom trim would make the whole ensemble really festive! The pom poms weighted the skirt only lightly, but really added something I believe! Have fun with Sahara!

You don't need a serger/overlocker to sew with knit fabric.....but there are couple of things that will really improve your experience.... (Allow you to yell at your machine less.)

1. Make sure you sew with a ballpoint or stretch needle.
2. Make sure you use good quality polyester thread.
3. Select the right stitch for the job, a small zig-zag or a stretch stitch (looks a little like a lighting bolt.)
4. Make use of a walking foot on your machine - although it is possible to sew without one - be very careful not to stretch your fabric as you sew or let it drag while sewing.
5. Use the steam from your iron! Can help your knit bounce back if you do get any pesky stretched out areas!

This is my second version - I was in a hurry and used available fabric and had no time to be fancy! Even so, my daughter loves this top!! (She is a HUGE cat fan and Hello Kitty fits the bill!)

I'm not going to bore you with too much more talking....... so just enjoy browsing my photos!

I employed my hubby to take some extra shots with his phone while I used the camera!! We had a funny little moment of taking photos of each other at the same time!! (Sorry I don't have the photo he took of me handy.......maybe I'll update! ;-)

A rose for my little rose! (Rose is my maiden name.)

Soooooo........like I mentioned......(like I always mention).....I'm behind on my blogging!! BUT this is a little look at what you can look forward to soon! Just some of the latest tests I'm yet to share!! Aren't they fab?!

See you soon! Happy sewing!
