Juilet - Pattern by Bella Sunshine Designs

Eeeep! Let me tell you something for nothing...... I LOVE pintucks! Let me have at them!! So when I had the opportunity to test Bella Sunshine Design's latest pattern, the "Juliet" dress, I was super excited!

This adorable PDF pattern comes with sizes 6 months to 12 years included.

You can choose whether or not to sew the pintuck front bodice - it is a time consuming job and requires plenty of patience, so if your keen for a quicker sew, the pattern comes with the option of a plain front. Ruffles are non negotiable!

The back sash is an optional extra too, but I feel it really suits this style of dress and I was keen to go all out! (Topped off of course with some vintage feel square buttons.......ahhhhh yes, I'm in button heaven!)

Juliet proves a wonderful weight in the finished garment. I can't tell you enough how this dress just oozes quality in the cloth. This is thanks not just to the bodice ruffles, pintucks and wide sash, but because the bottom band is fully lined, giving a beautiful drape to the skirt.

This well written & illustrated pattern gives great directions on how to achieve a well fitting dress. I'm always tailoring the fit of my daughters clothing as she is tall & slim. This dress suits sewers of intermediate sewing skills, although with the thorough instructions, I believe, even a keen beginner could produce a lovely Juliet! Just start out with the plain bodice for your first try! Snaps instead of buttons? (I'd forgive you.........just!)

Bella Sunshine patterns also come with the wonderful feature of layering of the pattern pieces. It makes printing and cutting a breeze!

I find that whimsical dresses of this style really lend themselves to floral fabrics. So I pulled out this gorgeous Jennifer Paganelli Circa fabric that I was saving away for a rainy day (or not as you can see from the heat in these photos!)

This dress isn't a quick sew, even without the pintucks, the bodice including the lining has 10 pieces to it! (That's not including a sash if you choose to add one!) I do however really LOVE Juliet in all her girly glory!
